Build Strength, not confusion.
Most beginners don’t stick with the gym. Why?
Because they get overwhelmed.
They follow random workouts from TikTok, jump between machines, and never see real progress.
That’s why I always recommend one thing for beginners: the Push/Pull/Legs routine. Simple, effective, and built for growth.
What is Push/Pull/Legs?
Push/Pull/Legs (PPL) is a weekly training split where:
- Push Day = Chest, Shoulder, Triceps
- Pull Day = Back, Biceps
- Leg Day = Quads, Hamstrings, Glutes, Calves
Repeat the cycle to hit each muscle group twice per week if you can.
Why PPL Works So Well (Especially for Beginners)
- Clear structure – No guessing which muscle to train
- Balanced volume – Hits every muscle fairly
- Easy to customize – Add more sets as you progress
- Built for progression – You’ll see strength gains fast
This is the same structure I used as a competitive powerlifter. It works. Period.
Sample Weekly Split
| Day | Workout |
| Monday | Push |
| Tuesday | Pull |
| Wednesday | Legs |
| Thursday | Rest |
| Friday | Push |
| Saturday | Pull |
| Sunday | Legs or Rest |
Can’t hit 6 days? Just do 3, one of each. That still beats 90% of people.
Beginner Gear to Consider
You don’t need much to start. But a few things make a difference:
- Flat-soled shoes – For squats and deadlifts
- Wrist straps – Help with grip on pulls
- Lifting belt (optional) – If you’re going heavy on squats/deads
My recommended gear here.
Supplements That Are Actually Worth It
Forget magic pills. Here’s what actually helps:
- Whey protein – For hitting daily protein goals
- Creatine monohydrate – Proven to boost strength
- Glutamine – May help with recovery
- Omega-3 fish oil – Good for joints and testosterone health
I’ll break these down more in future posts, but this is all you really need.
Final Tips
- Track your workouts
- Stick to the basics
- Progress by adding weight, reps, or sets
- Don’t program hop every week
Strength takes time, but with PPL, you’ll know you’re on the right path.
